As it turned, the waste gradually decreased while the usable material gradually increased.

You watched the pile of waste in the corner of the yard grow from a small heap to a large one, and then from a large heap to an even larger one. Bricks left from demolishing old houses, stones cleared from road construction, soil turned over during foundation excavations—year after year, it piled up, year after year, higher and higher. Every time you passed by, you sighed—when will this waste decrease?

Then the machine came in. It roared and churned, feeding in broken bricks and tiles, and when it came out, it was usable scrap. You stood there watching, watching the pile of waste gradually shrink, while the pile next to it gradually grew higher. For every piece of waste lessened, there was more usable material; for every drop of waste lowered, there was more usable material.

This process was incredibly satisfying to watch. That garbage that had piled up for years, that you found annoying every time you looked at it, finally had a place to go; that waste that you couldn't bear to spend money on removal for, that you didn't know how to dispose of, finally came in handy. The machine kept turning, the waste kept decreasing, and the usable material kept increasing. You watch, and you feel a surge of satisfaction.

Waste becomes material, material becomes a road, and the road leads to every corner of your home. That pile of stuff that bothered you for years has finally become your most useful material. The yard is clean, and so is your heart.

As it turns, the waste gradually decreases, and the usable material gradually increases. From today onward, there will be no waste in your yard, only raw materials yet to be processed.
