Key Points of Quality Control in Brick Production


To ensure consistent brick quality, the first step is to control the raw materials and batching process. The soil or materials used for brick making need to maintain stable composition and moisture content. Each time materials are mixed, their moisture level should be checked; ideally, they should "clump together when squeezed in the hand but crumble when dropped," and large impurities should be avoided. If the formula includes cement, sand, or other materials, they must be mixed in a predetermined ratio and thoroughly. This is fundamental to ensuring consistent quality throughout the batch.


The molding stage is the core of quality control. The pressure and holding time of the brick press must be adjusted appropriately based on the moisture content of the raw materials. Insufficient pressure will result in loose and weak bricks; excessive pressure or improper holding time can easily lead to internal cracks. Operators should regularly inspect the pressed bricks, observing their appearance for intact edges and corners, smooth surfaces, and weight within the normal range. Several bricks can be periodically cut open to check for internal density and the absence of voids.


Subsequent curing and final inspection are equally indispensable. Wet brick blanks need to be dried naturally in a well-ventilated environment, away from direct sunlight and rain, to prevent cracking caused by uneven drying. Before leaving the factory, finished bricks should undergo a visual inspection, and defective products with obvious defects, deformation, or cracks should be rejected. If possible, simple strength tests can be conducted, such as dropping or bearing weight on a few bricks to verify whether they meet usage requirements. Recording the inspection results at each stage helps to quickly trace problems and continuously improve the production process.
